The Existence

The Chasm
Whose existence, the Human's or the God's ? Can there be a debate on the existence of God ? The shastras, our religion's Pramanas, said that the God can not be seen or even perceived by the Human sense organs, because He is above these trivial things. One needs a Divya chakshus, Divine Eyes, to see Him. So how can we discuss about something which we have not seen. Normally we believe only which we can see and since God can not be seen by we ordinary humans, there came the existence of Believers and Non-believers in the religion, Aastikas and Nastikas. How can we believe that there is a Heaven or a Hell, nobody has come back from there to describe his experince there. So the existence of God, Heaven or Hell can not be verified. Param Pujya Guru Dayananda Saraswatiji used to tell that the religion is a bundle of non-verifiable beliefs. According to him the God's existence is not a Belief, but it's True Knowledge. If it were just something to be believed upon, then there can be the arguments that He is not existing, as no one can verify the existence. He asks, have you seen your great great great grand father ? No one would have seen the father three generations above him. But since we exist, we can be sure that, though we have not seen him, a great great great grand father existed in the past. Since the effect is seen, the Cause would have been there, is not a belief but a certain knowledge. So even though we can not verify his existence, we can not leave him for a discussion. We are sure that it is a knowledge for us.

We have to agree that the many happenings in this Nature follow some unwritten Norms. The very fact that most of the human beings are born with more or less the same type of features. All mankind born with two hands and two legs, with five fingers in each of them !! All human born with his/her head in the front side of the body !!No one seems to have any significant feature on the back side. All of them have similar inner organs,in many cases transferrable organs. All these seem to follow some fixed rule in a manufacturing unit.So these creations are the Effects of some definite Cause, the creator who can be called as the GOD.

The Seas, Lands and the Skies seem to work in Dharmic ways, they seem to follow certain Natural Laws. The seas do not encroach upon the Land, if there are no Adharmic activities done by man. It's only when Dush Karmas are perpectuated by man, the Tsunamies are seen. The Water flows from a higher elevation to a lower one, the wind blows from the high-pressure area to a low-pressure area, the sea water evaporates, becomes cloud and it rains and the rain water joins the river and finally all these water enter into the seas again in a seasonal water cycle , the Sun gives warmth and light in the day times, the moon gives the coolness and calm in the night, the seeds grow into big trees and they flower and fruitify, a million or more Natural Processes ,such as these, we can think of, which follow a certain Laws of Nature. All these are the visible effects of A Cause called God. So as we did in the case of our great great great grand father, we have to conclude that since effects are clearly visible the Cause has to be there, and that Cause can be, taken as a Certain Knowledge. So the Existence of God is not a matter for belief but it is a Knowledge.
We have proved that God is existing. Then the next question is where is He ? Ofcourse, He is in the many temples of India. Many thousands throng the temple of Lord Balaji at Tirupati. We all undertake pilgrimage tour of temples, we make Theertha Yatras to visit the Holy Rivers of India. He must be there in all these places. But the animals and birds don't visit these places, so is there no God for them. There should be one for them also. The blind, deaf and other handicapped fellow beings can not see the Gods, surely they too must have One God. There is this story of a Brahmin in the Skanda Purana, who undertook a pilgrimage tour of temples and Holy Rivers, after leasing his house to some Pravakthas who had come to his village for a Bhagavatha Sapthaham. He managed to reach Kasi and went to take bath in River Ganga. To his surprise he found the Ganga to be dry. While he was wondering what is wrong, because his understanding was that Ganga will always have water in it,some punditas were coming after their bath in Ganga. He asked them where they took bath. They replied that Ganga is flowing with full majesty and they took their bath. Then our poor brahmin realised that he might have done some sin because of which he is not able to see Gangaji. He wanted to clarify it and went to one realised soul, who was calling for Ganga and the River goddess Ganga came for his service, all the Holy River Devatas were serving him in his Ashrama. Wondered, our brahmin asked him what he had done to get the services of these River Goddesses. That Punya Atma replied that he did not know anything, my father used to read Srimad Bhagavatham regularly and after he passed away, as I do not know how to read Bhagavatham, all I did was placing the Holy Book in the Pooja room and offer few flowers and Tulasi leaves to it every day. The brahmin realised his mistake, the Bhagavatha Sapthaham was going on in his village and he set out to see the Punya Theerthas, not knowing that where Bhagawan's stuthies are chanted, all the Divya Kshetras and Divya Theerthas assemble to give their blessings. But as we said earlier the blind can not see and the deaf can not hear the Bhagavatham Lectures. So our Gurujis say that the God can not be seen by our mortal eyes and even if Sound is Brahmam, "Natha Brahmam", it can not be heard by our physical ears.

What we have to do to see God, is to close our eyes, block our ears and with the Divya Chakshus, the third eye, we have to see our Hearts, where the God lives always, one need not go out to see Him. He is within oneself. He may not be seen in the first attempt, but a continuous search will certainly give good results. Even if one is blind, deaf this is possible. Having seen the God in oneself, we can go a little higher, we can find Him in every living beings, in animals and birds also.We can see Him in the inert objects also, as Prahlada saw Him in a Pillar. And we will see Him in every where, He is Vishnu, who pervades all the creation of this Jagat. And ofcourse in every Archa Vigraham of all the Temples, they are made up of stone or panchlohas, in the Divya Theerthas of this Universe. And then we will say that "there is only God ", as an answer to our earlier question "where is He". With this knowledge, we can visit Lord Guruvayurappan in Guruvayur and He will definitely talk to us, and so Does the Balaji in Tirupati. If we can achieve this state of mind we will be called the Sadhus and we will be sanctifing all the Universe,as said in the Bhagavatham,
"Bhavad vidha bhagavathas, theertha bhuthah svayam Vibho,
Theerthi kurvanti theerthani, svantah sthena gadaabhruthah."
A pure and clean heart inside us is the residence of the God and our understanding that all the living beings and the intert objects etc. in this Universe, are all Abodes of God and the existence of our mortal body is temporary and God alone Has a permanent Existence, which can never be a subject for discussion, among we mortals as He is above our perceptions. And our Dharma is "Sanatana", ever lasting.
"Ramakrishna Hari"
