Bhagawatham-8.1..Gajendra Moksham

" NAMO NAMASTE AKHILA KARANAYA,NISHKARANAYA ADBUDA KARANAYA,
SARVAGAMAMNAYA MAHARNAVAYA,NAMO APAVARGAYA PARAYANAYA"
(VIII-3/25)

When Indradyumna became an elephant due to a curse he was happy because the shapa moksha is to come from the hands of Lord Vishnu, for which he was ready to wait any length of time. He enjoyed the kingdom of the Trikuta mountain ranges as the undisputed king Gajendra whom even the Lions feared. But once when he went to the river for quenching the thurst he was caught unawares by a crocodile who grabbed his leg. He tried very hard to pull his leg out, even his family members tried to help him out ,but the croc did not leave him. For years this struggle went on with none winning. Many years passed and he could not bear the pain any more and also he found nobody to help him. But he remembered that for such helpless people and for those who have no guardians in the world, there is Lord Vishnu who is the Jagannath and that He is only a call away from him. With a lotus on his trunk, he started the Vishnu puja......a 29 stanza memorable puja

"OM NAMO BHAGAWATHE THASMAI YATHA ETHACHITHATMAKAM,
PURUSHAYA AADIBIJAYA PARESAYA ABHI DEEMAHI"(VIII-3/2)

The Vishnu Bhagawan from Vaikunta listens to the cries of Gajendra and He could not waste any time in coming down to Trikuta mountain on the Garuda Vahanam.Gives Moksha to Indradyumna from the shapa,by killing the Crocodile by his Sudarshan chakra. This story gives us the following lesson..............................
ALL WE HAVE TO DO, IN TIMES OF CRISIS, IS NOT TO DEPEND ON THE UNDEPENDABLE AROUND US AND JUST CALL THE MOST DEPENDABLE WHO IS EVER READY TO COME TO OUR HELP . IN OTHER WORDS,LET'S NOT CRY FOR THOSE WHO DON'T DESERVE OUR TEARS AND SHED OUR TEARS FOR HIM, WHO WILL N0T ALLOW US TO CRY.
