AN INVOCATION

A PRAYER to God for Health and Wealth:

Om Bhadram Karnebhi: Shrunuyama Deva,Bhadram Pashyema Akshabhirya Jatra,
Stirair Angair Sthushthuvagum Sasthanoobhirvyashema Deva Hitam Yadayu:,
Swasthina Indro Vriddhasrava:,Swasthina: Poosha Viswaveda:,
Swasthinas Tharkshyo Arishtanemi:, Swasthino Brihaspathir Dadhatu:
OM SHANTI:,SHANTI:,SHANTI:

This is a special prayer appearing in the "Prasna Upanishad" of the Adharva Veda. Although the earlier posts in this Blog have maintained that one need not pray for anything in front of the God as He knows what is needed by us and one needs only to sing the Glories of the God in front of Him,this prayer is special, because it prays for good health to enable one to sing the glories of Him loudly and clearly. Even when a stranger does some favours to us, we say "Thank You" and shall we not do the same to the Lord when He has given us all that is with us now ? Shall we not sing the "Krishna Sthuthi" with our words ? Shall we not sing His Leelas loudly ?

God has given us the two ears to listen to His Katha,He could have made them deaf, but we are now hearing because He has not made them deaf, and we have to hear all that is auspicious, all His Glories and Leelas, so let us say "Thank You, my Lord"-"
bhadram karnebhi:,shrunuyama deva". Like wise we have two eyes, thanks to the God,He's not made them blind,we can go to the temples and see His Archavatara Murthies with full satisfaction to our eyes. We can utilize our eyes to see all the auspicious things in the World, His abhishekam,His alankaram,His deepa aradhanas,His chariot procession etc."bhadram pashyema akshabhirya jatra"

Let us pray God to give us good limbs, unbroken limbs-Stirair Angair- to enable us to run to Guruvayoor every day with unbroken legs, good hands to pluck flowers for His Pushanjali every day. Let Him give us good toungue to loudly chant His Names and sing His glories all the times. Let all our body parts be in unbroken state so that we can thank Him for the Goods He has given us, for the Hitam He has bestowed on us.Let us express our gratitude in no uncertain manner with full Praises on Him,for which let Him give us good Minds and good words. May we enjoy the life given to us by Him,with body of strong limbs, may He give us long life to extent our Namasankeerthanams on Him, until our life lasts.

It is true that our taking birth in this Janma without any defects in the body, purely depends on the Karmas we have performed in our previous births. One has to experience the Karma Phalas oneself. But if we pray Lord Guruvayurappa, He will answer to our prayers and definitely change our destiny. Arjuna was destined to be beheaded by the Brahma Astra sent towards him by Karna, but Lord Krishna pressed his chariot down and the Brahmastra took Arjunas crown on his head instead of his head, and changed his destiny and saved his head. (Had this coined the famous saying in Tamil..."Came for the head, went with the headgear"..?).Because He is capable of doing, not doing or doing differently--- "Karthum,Akarthum va Anyatha Karthum Shakthi". We surely know that the kind of Karmas we might have performed in our previous births and this birth also, we should have born deaf, dumb or crippled in this birth. But Krishna has shown His Karuna on us and Has made us with "Stirair Angair"-strong limbs. He has bestowed His Deva Hitam on us,and for this Hitam we have to Thank Him with our own mouths loudly and chant His names all the times.

Let us also pray Indra, who has ever increasing vigour.to bestow prosperity on us, may Poosha the Knower of all.also bring to us the prosperity, may Garuda, the obstructor of mis fortunes prevent us from misfortunes and give us enough fortune to enable us to do the Namasankeerthanams of the Lord, may Guru Brihaspathi give us the knowledge and prosperity, and guide us to the Lord Krishna. Let us Pray for PEACE.

OM SHANTI: OM SHANTI: OM SHANTI: OM.

a very interesting post. i subscribe to the belief that praying for others is always more beneficial and effective than praying for oneself or loved ones.
looking forward to reading more of your posts!
