Bhagawatham-10.04-Vrinadavana Leela-2

GOVINDA GOVINDA GOVINDA
"Barha peedam natavara vapu: karnayo: karnikaram,

bibrath vasa: kanaka kapisam vaijayanthim cha malam"
Pralambasura was killed by Balarama and the Lord saves the cattles from the wild fires(DavagniPanam) of the Aisheekam forest. All the Gopies are attracted by the beauty of the Lord Krishna and they always wanted to be with Him. They could not see Krishna going everyday to the forest leaving them and when He enters the forest He starts reciting His Flute(Sanika) and the Gopies loose their minds for Krishna. This Venu ganam is so sweet that even the cattle and the trees of the Vrindavanam are attracted towards Krishna by hearing this ganam. And in the Hemantha Ritu, the Gopies make Statue of Parvathi devi in the mud and starts the Katyayani Vrutham and pooja for the whole one month in order to get Krishna as their Husband......"Katyayani Mahamaye Mahayoginyadhiswari,Nanda gopa sudam Devi Pathim Me Kuru Te Nama:"......At the end of the monthly vrutham these Gopies take bath in the Yamuna leaving their dresses at the shore which Krishna takes away and gives back the dresses only after making them understand that taking bath naked in the Holy Yamuna is sin. Then the Brahmins who did yagna to get the darshan of Krishna could not recognize the God in Balakrishna ,but their wives did see the God in Him and finally blesses them all.

Nandagopa and other Gopas make elaborate preparations for the annual Indra Pooja to get the blessingss of Indradeva in the form of good rains in the Vrindavanam. Krisha gets annoyed by this as He thinks it's not Indra who decides ones fate but....."Karmana jayathe Jantu: Karmanaiva viliyathe,Sugam Dukham Bhayam Kshemam Karmanaivabhipadyathe".....ones good and bad karmas. After convincing Nandagopa and other gopas, Krishna decides to worship the Gowardhana Mountain instead of Indradeva. Then there followed the elaborate Pooja of the Gowardhan and the God Gowardhan mountain was very much pleased by the pooja and was waiting to serve the Vruja vasies when the Devendra got angry and started bombarding the area with heavy rains . The Vruja bhoomi seemed to get drowned by the heavy flooding and Krishna lifted the Gowardhan Mountain on his little finger and and saved, whole of Vruja bhoomi and inhabitants. Devendra could not sustain any longer and fell on the feet of Krishna and did Abhishekam of the Lord with the Holy name of GOVINDA.
"OM GOVINDA SREE GOVINDA , JAYA JAYA GOVINDA
DEENA DAYALA GOVINDA, GOPIKA RAMANA GOVINDA"

Yes, "Barha peedam......" indeed describes about Lord Krishna's Sringar. The Gopies are already attracted by the divine music flowing from the Flute of the Lord and they are leaving their preoccupations to reach to Him. At this time, the Lord with His enchanting Beauty, with the peacock feather on His head, blue Karnikara flowers on His Ears, His brilliant Yellow Silk garment as shining as the Gold, the Vyjayanti garland decorating His body, the Lord as the greatest Dancing body that He is, entered the Vrindavanam to enjoy the company of His Gopies. This sringar, needless to write, can attract anyone in this World. As He entered Vrindavan, His Footprints beautified the whole Vraja Bhoomi. And then flowed the Divine Music from His Lips which filled the holes of His Flute with the Nectar His Lips provide for the Gopies. And the Cowherd boy friends of His, sang His glories in the best of their voices. This Venu Gaanam, chapter of the Bhagavatam is indeed very beautiful, with the Gopies enjoying the Autumn of Vrindavanam, the enchanting forest. To describe this Sloka's meaning in this way is doing injustice to the essence of it, what I have done here is only to explain the literal meaning of this Great Slokam, my favourite.
