JEWELS of "GEETHA"....No:3
"Krodath bhavathi sammoha:, sammohath smruthi vibrama:,
smruthi bramsaad buddhi naasho, buddhi naasad pranashyathi."
smruthi bramsaad buddhi naasho, buddhi naasad pranashyathi."
Lord Krishna said "Mana eva manushyanam karanam banda mokshayo:..." the human mind is the cause of bondage and liberation. What He meant was that the actual Self or the "Atma" is always Free and Full. The bondage we experience in our life is the imagination of our own Minds. The limitations and the inadequacies we encounter in our lives are illusions of our minds. Self is always in the Poorna state and will never be inadequate. Likewise there is no need for us to ask for freedom from any thing, because our Atma is always free and liberated already, only our lack of understanding that Truth, is the cause of our bondage -feeling. Once we acquire that Self Knowledge, our Minds will feel that Fullness and Freedom . In this connection the Lord Krishna says...................
"Prajahati yada kaman sarvan Partha manogatan,
Atmanyeva Atman: tushta: sthitha pragnyastadochyathe."-2/55
[O Partha, when one gives up all the desires arising in the mind.satisfied in the Self by the knowledge of the Self, then one is called "Sthitha Pragnya:" - the Wise Man.]
"Atma" is free from any modifications and so free from any limitations. The Atma residing in a lean or fat human body or that residing in a bird or an animal is the same. It is free from the limitations of space and time. Atma is limitless, "ananda", full and complete in itself. And the one who knows the Self, the one who is self-realised, is also full in himself--Atmanyeva atmana: tushta:. Such a person is fully self- satisfied in his life.He is happy, not because of any reason but because of the knowledge that the Self or the Atma is the abode of happiness. He abides in the "Ananda" or endless Fullness that is the Self and is totally content within the Self, independent of any external gain. Hence he has no more desires left in his mind, or all the desires drop off from him--"Prajahati yada kaman..." .
Our minds are with full of desires to do well,or better than the others-full with the one-up-manship,when some desires get fulfilled the new desires are coming in and hence never with out the desires. But the desires to achieve something-so that one can be happier and more secure than what one is- cannot remain in the wake of the knowledge that one is happiness itself. It is the nature of us to be happy. So whatever desires are left , are an expression of fullness and are not for creating a better situation for oneself. So one remains happy whether the desire is fulfilled or not. The Lord Krishna says ....
"Na me Parthasthi karthavyam trishu lokeshu kimchan,
Nanavapthamavapthavyam vartha eva cha karmani"
O Partha, there is nothing in the three worlds that is to be done as duty by me. There is nothing unobtained or to be obtained ; and yet I do engage in action. The wisemen also continue with their day to day activities without losing the "Ananda" . They engage in their duties, but are dropping their desires from their minds or dont care for the fulfilled or unfulfilled desires that are in the minds. Krishna says those desires will themselves drop off from the self-realised wisemen.
"Aasakthi" on the material world is the breeding gound for desires in our minds. We have the family, kith and kins in our minds always. Even when we go to the temples and are in front of the dieties, we think of the material world and even pray Gods for the achievements of this and that. Krishna says that we have to get rid of these desires from our minds to become a true realised person. It is true that this is not easy, our minds can never get rid of these desires. But what we can do is to redirect these desires or Asakthi towards the Lord Krishna Himself. Let us desire about Him only, then our wordly desires will disappear from our minds slowly, but surely. So when we keep thinking about Krishna and His Leelas and keep chanting His names always, we get no time for the mundane matters and at the end of this Yoga we naturally would have realised about the Self.
