The ever-lasting Sathyam

"Satya Vratham Satya Param Tri Satyam,Satyasya Yonim Nihitham cha Satye, Satyasya Satyam Mrita Satya Netram, Satyatmakam Twam Sharanam Prapannah:"
The Truth is to tell the real thing with out adding or subtracting anything from the original,or to tell something other than the real thing is called a Lie. There are stories in the Puranas and Shastras which talk about the importance of speaking the truth. There is the story of King Harischandra who prefers to undergo the sufferings, rather than telling the lies. Sathyam, the truth will only win at the end, the Upanishads and Vedas declare in no uncertain terms. "Satyam eva Jayathe"....says the Upanishad. We seem to understand this. But what is the TRUTH ? Where can we find that ? Do we understand what is Satyam ? " Brahmam Satyam,Jagat Mithya" the Aadi Shankara Bhagawan said.Anything that is there today, but will disappear tomorrow is not the truth, it is Mithya, the Maya. Anything that undergoes changes is not satyam. The Human body undergoes changes, all the creations in this Jagat undergoes changes, the Earth itself changes in time, hence all these are the Maya, the mithya, the untruth. Then what is that which does not change at all?

The time-gap we used to find out what is Satyam and where it is. Though we say that we know the Brahmam..."Vedaham edam Purusham Mahantam..."we are not certain what the Satyam is. We know that the Chaitanyam in oneself is the part of that Brahmam, as we know, without that this body can not stand on the two legs,it can not walk or run or for that matter, do anything in this Jagat. So that awareness of ourselves is the Satyam which can not change. For seeing other's presence we need to depend on the sensory organs and other wordly objects. It is Maya, can not remain for ever. To see one object, we need the eyes, we need the light. If we close our eyes or if the light goes off, we can not see any objects of this World. That is, the Jagat is only a perception, a Maya. But even if we are in the dark and are closing our eyes we know we are present, that is an experience, that is a Satyam. So the real Truth needs no sensory organ to experience.

That Satyam is God,it is Lord Krishna,Lord Rama,Lord Siva or Goddess Para Shakthi. The Sreemad Bhagavatham therefore, salutes that Satyam...."Satyam Param Deemahi".And that Satyam is in each one of us as the Atma and knowing that Atma is the Satyam we are searching for. All the Sanyasis are therefore called the Satyanveshies as they are always in the search of that Truth, that Param Satyam. That is the self-awareness we too are searching for. That is the essential teaching of the Bhagavat Geetha, that we are not this body. And this awareness of self, the spritual EGO is the Aatma Gnan one should attain. This Aatma is changeless, it does not undergo any transformation of any kind. It is eternal. It is only our body, which is temporay and which undergoes changes such as Janma, Mrityu, Jara and Vyadhi. This a Truth which can not be understood by reading or by listening, but it should be experienced by oneself. It can not be taught by any Guru or teachers. The one who experiences this Satyam is a self-realized person or Jeevan Muktha. He is the Person who experiences the Fullness of oneself. This fullness or Poornatwam is in everyone of us, but how many of us has experienced it?Then what is the everlasting Satyam? Satyam itself is Everlasting, Eternal, then why is the adjective "everlasting" to it ? What is the Satyasya Satyam?

We have so far discussed about the Nirguna Nirakara Brahmam known as Satyam, which is in every one of us and in all the living and inert beings of this Jagat. That is the Goal of all the Gnana Margies. They attain the realisation once they see this Brahmam. But what about we Bhakthi Margies ? We need the Saguna Sakara Moorthies for our Sakshatkara. We need to imagine the Balaji of Tirupati and the Lord Guruvayurappa with all Their beautiful Swaroopas. We need Their Vigrahas for the Abhishekams, Alankarams, Archanas, Poojas and the Processions. We need to express our Bhavas to worship our Beloved Moorthies. Infact this Bhavam is the Bhakthi, it's the embodiment of our Bhakthi to our Gods. We need to do the Dololsvams to put our Moorthies to sleep. One Bhaktha was travelling with us in his car, he might have passed some miles, when he suddenly remembered something and reversed the car and came back to his house. Then he opened his house and just put off one electric switch and came back to the car. We were wondering what was wrong with him, then he said that his Krishna was sleeping in his home and he failed to put off the calling bell switch, someone may ring the bell and disturb Krishna's sleep !! That is the Bhavam which constitutes the Bhakthi.

We need to sing His glories, we need to do His Bhajans and Nama Samkeerthanams. We believe His Name is more powerful than He, Himself. Lord Rama was watching the Stones, "Rama" enscribed on them, floating during the Sethu Bandana times. He saw no one was watching Him and He took a stone and dropped into the sea, to His disbelief that stone drowned into the sea. Hanumanji was somehow seeing this. Then Hanumanji said to Rama that anyone who is carrying His name in his heart will float on this Samsara Sagara and he will cross that ocean, but anyone who is thrown out by Rama is destined to drown in this Samsara Sagara !! Such is the power of God's Names.

We like to sing the Glories of Rama and the Leelas of Krishna. We like to recite the Ramayana and Sreemad Bhagavat all the times. We will listen to the Bhagavata Discourses again and again, even though we may know the stories and Leelas. We like the Leela of Krishna, stealing the Butter and breaking the pots of the Gopies. Even the Gopies liked it very much. They sure, went to Yashoda and complained about Krishna regarding the stealing of Butter and breaking the pots. But they knew that by complaining so, Krishna will be provoked and He will do the same thing again and again, which they wanted, because that is the times when they were able see their Kanhaiyya !! There may be many Tattwarthas for this stealing of Butter and breaking the pots, but the poor Gopies knew nothing of those meanings, they just loved the Leela, that is all. That is the Satyasya Satyam !! They wanted to see their Krishna in the beautiful Swaroopam of " "Barhapeedam Nadavara Vapuhu; Karnayoh: Karnikaram" . Even when Krishna left Vrindavana for Madhura, the Gopies did not want to go with Him, they were happy in His Viraha also, they just wanted to sing His Leelas and Glories and remain in His Bhakthi all the times. They were always waiting to see Him in His Viraha Dukham. ..." Ethi Gopyaha: Pragayantyaha: Pralapantyaha: Chithradaa; Ruruduhu: Suswaram Rajan, Krishna Darshana Laalasaha:"....They cried sweetly for Him !! That is called the Bhakthi.

As Lord Brahma, Lord Shiva and Naradadi Rishies said.........................................

"SHRUNVAN GRIHNAN SAMSMARAYANSCHA CHINTAYAN,
NAAMAANI ROOPANI CHA MANGALAANI THE,
KRIYASU YAH: TWACHARANAARAVINDAYOH:,
AAVISHTACHETHAAH: NA BHAVAAYA KALPATHE."

Those with unflinching Bhakthi in Him, fall Sharanagatas on His Lotus Feet, always sing His Nama Sankeerthanams and sing His Glorious Leelas and always thinking about and remembering about Him and propagate His glories all the times, will have no re-birth in this Samsara Sagaram and will attain the Moksham with out any doubt. This is the Satyasya Sathyam for us.
" Rama Krishna Hari"
