Panduranga Dharmam

Jai Jai Ramakrishna Hari
Jai Jai Panduranga Hari

Kaustub did not get the sleep that night, though he is a regular early sleeper, goes to bed by 9 pm. Asked by friends he used to say that the best time of the day is the night time when he slept well. He's right, that is the time when one forgets everything, all the worries of the day and the agonies.  That may be the reason why sleeping pills are given to patients in the hospitals so that they sleep peacefully without knowing the pains. But what is wrong with him tonight? He took out a sheet of paper and a pencil thinking to scribble something. He's heard that Swans do not sing at any time. And if they do, that's the near end of their lives. He trembled a little and  "forget it, let me write something now", he thought and started........

Pahi Mam Krishna, Gopala Krishna,
Raksha Mam Krishna, Govinda Krishna.

Pahi Mam Krishna, Gokula Krishna,
Raksha Mam Krishna, Gopika Krishna.

Pahi Mam Krishna, Go Vatsala Krishna,
Raksha Mam Krishna, Go Vardhana Krishna.

Pahi Mam Krishna, Geetha Krishna,
Raksha Mam Krishna, Guruvayur Krishna.

Pahi Mam Krishna, Pandareepura Krishna,
Raksha Mam Krishna, Parat Paraya Krishna.

He could not continue anymore... An eye-blinding radiance appeared in front of him. He could not believe himself.  He saw the Lord Pandurangan with hands-on His waist with yellow silk garment shining like the rising sun. He could not talk with a clear voice,, with a choked voice he said.......
"Ramakrishna Hari, Panduranga Hari."
Lord asked..." Dear Kaustub, what you think is difficult to understand in your life."
Hesitating for a while, Kaustub said..." Lord! I do not understand what the SANATANA DHARMA is". " Oh !! the Lord said
"Other religions talk about ONE GOD and question the basis of our, on the plentifulness of GODHOOD. We in the Sanatana Dharma say, we have ONLY GODS, we can invoke the God in anything moving or non-moving in this world and elsewhere. We can invoke Him in a metal piece or wooden, as well or even in a picture or in the trees, mountains, water or even in the vacuum.  We can imagine God to be a Sakara Moorthy or even a Nirakara form.
We can worship Lord Krishna as the Udipi Krishna, Dwarakadheesh, Guruvayurappa, and Panduranga, etc.  Or else we can worship our own inner heart residing Jeeva Atma, who is the part of the Parama Atma, closing our eyes and seeing Him through our inner eyes. Our Dharma is crystal clear that all beings created by the Brahman is part of the same Brahmam and hence worshipping it, is as good as worshipping the Param Brahman.  Also, the Namaskarams to all the Gods and Demi-Gods are actually going to the Param Prabhu Govinda. (Sarva Deva Namaskaram Govindam Pratigachhati)" So Kaustub, tell me who is your dearest God." A difficult question, Kaustub thought, yet he tried to reply.

" Yes, my Lord, YOU are my most favourite God,  my dearest God is Guruvayurappa, my Kula Daivata is Manapullykkavu Bhagavathy, my Grama Devata is Sree Rama, my town Devata is Vadakkum Nathan, our Nitya Deva is Tirupati Venkatesa,  when we have some diseases we pray Vaidyanatha, when we need prosperity we pray Sree Lakshmy and Kubera, for all kinds of pleasures we pray Goddess Durga, in Ramayana month we worship Triprayar  Rama and we regularly worship Hanumanji. We need to worship all the Gods and Goddesses for our various requirements, that is what our religious leaders and  Dharma Propagators teach us. They even make temples installing various deities in their Ashramas."

Vittal just smiled and replied. " In our Sanatana Dharma, we can invoke God in any form, I said, already.  And we need to believe and trust in the God we, choose to worship. We need to surrender to Him/ Her without any expectations. When you said I am your favorite God, you actually did not trust me in full, that is why you have to go to other Gods to get your requirements. One has to seek refuge in the dearest God with total Atma Samarpana, which is total surrender. There is nothing that can not be done by God. The only Prasadam one has to accept from the Temple of his favorite God is His Darshan and if possible His Pada Sparsham like in my Temple in Pandharpur.
Mayi aavesya mana: kritsnam,
vimuktha asesha vritti yad,
anusmarantyo Mam nityam
achirat Mam upaishyata
And saying so, the Lord of this Bhoo Loka Vaikunta disappeared from his eyes with the same unseeable radiance as He came.
Kaustub understood the meaning of what Panduranga said to him, he had read in Geetha that leaving all worldly Dharmas one has to surrender to Krishna only totally, but is there any enlightened soul in this world doing that. It's much easier said than done. But today why did Panduranga come in his dreams, and stress the point again? Kaustub thought this is the time he should decide on this undistracted devotion to Krishna, Panduranga. Krishna can give all the worldly goods as well as the liberation from these birth-death cycles which must be the goal of a man in his life. Here Kaustub is inviting all of us to follow him. Let's do that.........................
